Dr. Muizzu pledges international standard maternity and children's hospital
Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, the presidential candidate from the PPM-PNC alliance, has made a significant commitment to establish an international hospital specializing in maternal and child healthcare.
During a campaign rally held in Fuvahmulah City on Saturday, Dr. Muizzu acknowledged the existing gaps in healthcare provisions for pregnant women and children in the Maldives. He stressed the importance of creating a dedicated system that addresses their unique healthcare needs.
"We have a vision to create a state-of-the-art maternity and children's hospital within the Maldives, offering world-class services on an international scale," remarked Dr. Muizzu. He further stated that this hospital would aim to become a benchmark for excellence in the region.
In addition to this healthcare initiative, Dr. Muizzu also expressed his commitment to ensuring housing for every citizen under his leadership. Reflecting on the Hiyaa housing project initiated during the tenure of former President Abdulla Yameen, which stands as one of the largest such projects in history, Dr. Muizzu pointed out that the project targeted not just the general public, but also employees of government-owned enterprises and agencies. He voiced his disappointment over the project's partial suspension by the current administration upon assuming power.
Dr. Muizzu highlighted the negative consequences of this suspension, underscoring that several government employees were left without housing. He pledged to rectify this situation by providing apartments to those who were promised accommodations through the Hiyaa scheme but have yet to receive them. Furthermore, he assured that housing would be extended to employees across all government institutions during his leadership.
"Four years have gone by, and as the fifth year concludes, unfulfilled promises continue to linger. These employees remain without homes, without hope," Dr. Muizzu expressed with concern.
